Melanie Tate

Welcome! I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Washington in June 2020. Since then, I have been an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at the University of San Francisco and a Lecturer in Summer Session at the University of California, Berkeley. The courses I have taught include History of Modern Philosophy, Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, and Medical Ethics.

My research focuses on René Descartes, especially his theory of the passions. I also have research interests in Baruch Spinoza, Princess Elisabeth, and Anne Conway.
