A New Semester

Wednesday, 8 January, begins the detail semester. Iterative prototypes will dictate decisions in the implementation of the conceptual design, beginning with precision tests on the shoulder differential and control tests on the MX series servos.

A 3D printed T-bar with decreased mounting distance between the shoulder's bevel gears decreased slop in the gears. While the yielded precision still seems greater than permitted by the requirements, applying a clamping force may effect the required precision.

Since the MX-12W servos track position for +/- 28 rotations, position could not be tracked rotating the required 360 degrees about the base with a 100: 1 gear ratio. Using Sparta Robotics' manipulation, which has several joins actuated by MX-64 servos, it may be determined if the count data can be stored as a variable and the counter reset.
