Meiling Ying

 Assistant Professor, New York University
I am an Assistant Professor at New York University and was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Health Services Research at the University of Michigan. I earned a BA in Economics from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, an MA in Economics from Nankai University,  and a Ph.D. in Health Services Research and Policy from the University of Rochester.
My research interests include alternative payment reforms (e.g., the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model, Hospital Readmission Reduction Program, and Bundled Payments for Care Improvement) and their effects on financial and health outcomes, and gaps in quality of care delivered to vulnerable populations, including but not limited to older adults and people who are low-income and historically marginalized. My recent research focuses on cancer care, the effects of Maryland’s All-Payer Model on care shifting among surgical patients, and the impact that Pathways to Success—a recent overhaul to the Medicare Shared Savings Program—has had on the clinical quality and costs among older patients.
