PRISMA Lab Naples, Italy
Research Intern under Dr. Fanny Ficuciello Sept 2023 – July 2024
• Modeled the soft, continuum wrist section of an in-house prosthetic hand (PRISMA Hand II) using Geometric Variable Strain(GVS), and cosserat rod theory.
• Leveraged the developed model and Simscape to develop a torque-based control architecture, achieving dexterous motions and precise trajectory tracking for the wrist section.
• Optimized PID controller parameters within the control architecture using Particle Swarm Optimisation to enhance performance.(Accepted at IROS 2024)
• Created a Neural Network- based kinematic controller for the same model, ensuring accurate and robust trajectory tracking for multiple dexterous wrist motions.(Submitted to ICRA 2025)
Centre Of Non-Destructive Evaluation IIT Madras
Research Intern under Dr. Krishnan Balasubramanian May 2023 – July 2023
• Contributed to an IOCL-funded project to integrate ultrasonic waveguide technology with Deep Learning architectures to develop an automated, data-driven system for online condition monitoring of oil samples.
• Performed experiments using the ultrasonic waveguide setup to acquire signals for multiple oil samples and documented the data in a comprehensive dataset.
• Successfully trained Convolutional Neural Networks, a FFT-based feature extraction followed by Artificial Neural Network Architecture and a Multi-Headed Attention based Transformer network, to classify the oil samples directly from the signals obtained with accuracies of 92%, 97%, and 98% respectively.(Submitted to Journal of Tribology, ASME)
Stochastic Robotics Lab IISc Bangalore
Research Intern under Dr. Ashitava Ghosal Feb 2023 – July 2023
• Performed an in-depth study on the backend of MuJoCo, a general-purpose physics engine, to understand core functionalities.
• Conceptualized and developed a CAD model for the leg of an in-house quadruped (Stoch3) with a compliant mechanism to eliminate spurious torques due to ground reaction forces and improve shock absorption as well as traction.
• Simulated the new leg assembly in the MuJoCo environment to emulate hopping behaviour.
Advanced Control Lab NIT Durgapur
Undergraduate Researcher under Dr. Aritro Dey May 2023 – July 2023
• Proposed a novel Adaptive Gain super twisting Sliding Mode Control Law for a Quadrotor, to achieve quicker convergence and robust trajectory tracking.
• Significantly lowered the control effort, minimized chattering, and reduced noise, thus enhancing the overall performance of the control architecture.
• Benchmarked the proposed control law against the conventional continuous sliding mode control to demonstrate the improvements.
• Validated the proposed control law using Lyapunov’s criterion for stability analysis in the case of disturbances.(Accepted at IJAAC, Inderscience)
Dr. Subramanian’s Research Group NIT Durgapur
Undergraduate Researcher under Dr. Hemachander Subramanian May 2023 – July 2023
• Modeled a ferrofluid energy harvester in MATLAB by approximating Ferrofluid balloons moving in a toroidal pipe with current-carrying wires wound around it as magnetic objects freely falling through a solenoid.
• Incorporated a script to account for effect of the magnetic fields of multiple cylinders at a point using a spatial shift and add scheme, ensuring that the simulation results are robust and realistic.
• Optimized design parameters like the radius and length of the Ferrofluid balloons and the distance between consecutive Ferrofluid ballons to enhance the efficiency of the Ferrofluid energy harvester.(pre-print coming soon)
Orangewood Labs New Delhi, India
Robotics Software Development Intern April 2022 – Jul 2022
• Implemented ROS-based python scripts for a 6-dof industrial articulated robot arm, enabling complex, dextrous motions for demos and industry functions, by leveraging the MoveIt motion planning framework.
• Integrated an interactive Graphic User Interface (GUI), developed using Tkinter into the ROS scripts to seamlessly control the tasks to be performed by the robot.
• Conducted a comprehensive market research on the global industrial robotics ecosystem in the domains of spray coating, painting and welding, with particular emphasis on the integrators, suppliers, vendors and robot manufacturers
• Represented Orangewood as a business associate at IndiaWood 2022, an international woodworking exhibition and successfully pitched to multiple potential customers, collaborators and clients
