Set a century after the events in the original Mega Man series, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X is a remake of the original SNES game Mega Man X, and details the story of Dr. Light's greatest creation: X, a robot with free will. Dr. Cain's discovery of X led to the creation of reploids, robots modeled after the design of X. When the maverick virus infects a group of reploids, they band together in a revolt against humanity. The call goes to the maverick hunters, X and Zero, to fight the Mavericks.

Yacht Club Games has released a pair of cheat codes that will let those playing Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment to wall jump in a manner more akin to wall jumping in Mega Man X. Two versions of the cheat code are available, and while they are mostly the same, they change the color palette of Specter Knight to either red or blue while he is wall jumping. This is likely an homage to the characters X and Zero from Mega Man X.

Finally, Mega Man X4 is the first X game to use cheat codes which unlock armors specific for the character selected. For X, he unlocks the Ultimate Armor (an enhanced version of the Fourth Armor), which first starts out replacing X's cyan colors with purple. When X visits any of the Light Capsules, he is automatically equipped with the full Ultimate set, giving him a Plasma Shot upgrade and the Nova Strike Giga Attack as well as enhanced defense and the ability to hover in the air (these abilities were also featured in the Fourth Armor, although the latter's use of the Nova Strike is limited). Zero on the other hand gets the Black Zero armor, which gives him a black sheen and platinum blond hair, but does not affect his abilities in the least. The codes for unlocking these armors differ on the consoles.

Cheat Codes are special codes that, for most, once typed in the profile naming screen of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, can alter the game in various and often bizarre ways, some in minor, such as simply changing a color palette, while others in major ways, such as altering animations, sprites or even dialogue. There are currently 407 or so cheat codes available, some of which are exclusive to specific campaigns. A few other codes are input-based.

In May of 2021, Yacht Club Games met with the chain of sandwich fast-food restaurants Arby's to create new content for Treasure Trove. This includes unique features across the four main campaigns, which can be activated using external cheat codes. These 7 codes, originally engraved on character-themed launcher tokens that were given with Arby's Kids Meals, will change various game elements to fast-food related counterparts, and there even is a secret 8th code capable to simultaneously unlock all the effects of the other seven at the same time. Due to having been released to a later date, these eight codes are not present in the official cheat code database presented above and are instead found at the bottom of this page; furthermore, only some versions of Treasure Trove are compatible with these codes.

These codes grant a custom color palette to the player, and remains the same even when wearing different armors. The exact palette for a given code is different in each campaign, and this cheat does not disable feats. Of note for the last cheat is that any glow effect on the characters (invincibility, charging etc.) will keep the palette of the previous armor and only change it when you stop glowing. 17dc91bb1f
