【PROFILE】
神奈川県横浜市出身。
コロナ禍をきっかけに時間の有限さを実感し、2022年より本格的にアーティストとしての活動を開始。
以降、国内外の個展やグループ展、アートフェアに積極的に参加し、独自の表現を追求している。
Born in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Prompted by the realization of life's brevity during the pandemic, MEG began her career as a professional artist in 2022. Since then, she has actively participated in solo and group exhibitions, as well as art fairs both in Japan and internationally, continually exploring and refining her unique artistic expression.
【CONCEPT】
人には〈見せる〉感情＝表層と、〈見せない〉感情＝深層があり、感情をコントロールしながら自分の〈姿〉を作っている。
それをレイヤーと捉えて、「人の感情」をコンセプトに作品を制作する。
八方美人や風見鶏などの人が見せる（見せてしまう）姿や、他から求められる「ありのまま」の姿など、自分の見せる姿と、見せない（見せたくない）姿が存在する心意には、人が社会を生き抜くために持つ強さや、他を思いやるための優しさなど、人の生きる〈美しさ〉があると考えている。
それを表現するため、人とは反対に本心のまま素直に生きる動物のシルエットに、作った笑顔（絵文字）をのせて違和感を作り出し、人が〈見せる〉感情＝表層と、〈見せない〉感情＝深層の乖離を映し鏡のように動物を通して描く。
作品を通し、人の生きる〈美しさ〉を認めることの大切さや、人を表層だけで判断する無意識の偏見に気づいてほしい。
People have a surface layer of emotions that they “show” and a deeper layer of emotions that they “don't show,” and they create their own “image” while controlling their emotions.
He creates works based on the concept of “human emotions,” viewing them as layers.
In the hearts and minds that exist in the forms that we show and the forms that we do not show (or do not want to show), such as the forms that people show (or show) such as “beauty on all sides” and “weathercock,” and the forms that others want to see “as they are,” there is a “beauty” in human life, such as strength that people have to survive in society and kindness for caring for others. In order to express this, we must be in opposition to others.
In order to express this, he creates a sense of incongruity by placing a made-up smile (emoji) on the silhouettes of animals that live honestly with their true feelings, as opposed to people, and depicts the gap between the surface level of emotions that people “show” and the depth level of emotions that they “do not show” through animals as if they are mirrors.
Through these works, I hope the viewer will realize the importance of recognizing the beauty of human life and the unconscious prejudice of judging people only by their surface level.
