Originally from the Netherlands, Dr Emily Meekel obtained a MSci in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Glasgow in 2019, of which her research project focused on the modulated synthesis of Fe-MOFs under supervision of Prof Ross Forgan. She then moved to the University of Oxford to pursue a DPhil (PhD) supported by the Snell Exhibition, to study the synthesis and characterisation of correlated disordered metal-organic frameworks under supervision of Professor Goodwin.
After graduating in late 2023, she was awarded a JSPS postdoctoral fellowship to join the Furukawa-Inose group at iCeMS at Kyoto University, to work on complex material design using metal-organic polyhedra as building blocks.Â
In January 2026, she moved to Birmingham University to continue her research on complex framework materials as supported by the Career Development Fellowship from the Royal society. Dr Emily Meekel is associated with the group of Dr. Timothy Easun.
