If you want a dedicated transmitter to stream high-fidelity audio from airplane seats or gym machines without cables, choose MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight; if you need a soft, washable headband that doubles as sleepwear and sports gear, choose Perytong 2.
• MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight: Its biggest strength is converting non-Bluetooth 3.5mm ports into wireless connections with aptX Low Latency support; its trade-off is that it requires you to own your own Bluetooth headphones to function. It is for the frequent traveler or commuter who needs to bypass old hardware.
• Perytong 2: Its biggest strength is the integrated fabric design that eliminates bulky ear cups for sleeping or running; its trade-off is the lack of a traditional headphone jack, requiring a separate source device like a phone rather than a direct line-out adapter. It is for the insomniac, the side-sleeper, or the athlete who wants all-in-one comfort.
The MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight solves a very specific, frustrating problem that most modern travelers face: the ubiquity of analog audio jacks on legacy equipment. If you are a college student who spends long hours studying in a dorm room with an older TV, working out on treadmills that only have 3.5mm aux inputs, or flying on planes where the seatback screens do not offer Bluetooth streaming, this device is the bridge you need. It transforms any standard 3.5mm Aux Jack into a wireless connection, allowing you to use your preferred Bluetooth headphones, AirPods, or speakers without being tethered by a wire.
The core of this product's appeal lies in its ability to handle high-fidelity audio transmission without the lag that usually plagues cheap adapters. By utilizing aptX Low Latency technology, it ensures that digital sound remains clear and distortion-free, which is critical when watching movies on a plane or listening to podcasts while running on a treadmill. This makes it a robust tool for anyone who cares about sound quality but is stuck with outdated hardware.

For the busy student or professional, the battery life is a standout feature. With a single charge providing up to 20 hours of playtime when connected to one pair of headphones, it easily lasts through a transcontinental flight or a week of gym sessions. Even when connecting two pairs simultaneously, it still offers 15 hours, which is substantial enough for long-haul travel. The compact plastic enclosure weighs only 17 grams, making it nearly invisible in a pocket or bag. However, you must remember that this is a transmitter, not a receiver. It does not generate sound itself; you must bring your own headphones. If you do not already own a pair of Bluetooth headphones, this purchase would be redundant. It is designed for those who already have their audio gear and just need a way to make it work with older devices.
The Perytong 2 takes a completely different approach to personal audio. Instead of trying to adapt existing equipment, it creates a new category of wearable audio that sits directly against the skin. This is not a set of headphones you put on to block out noise in a library; it is a headband with ultra-thin HD stereo speakers woven into the fabric. This design makes it uniquely suited for people who find traditional earbuds painful after a few hours or who simply cannot wear over-ear cans while lying down. The materials, a blend of 80% nylon and 20% spandex, are chosen specifically for breathability and stretch, ensuring the band fits almost any head size without causing pressure points.
For the college student looking for a "best with microphone bluetooth headset for college students" solution that doesn't interfere with their hair or glasses, this headband is a game-changer. It allows for hands-free listening while studying or relaxing without the clunky bulk of standard headphones. The fact that the entire unit is machine washable (after removing the control pod) addresses a major hygiene concern with wearable electronics, especially for athletes or those who sweat during workouts. The design explicitly targets activities like yoga, meditation, and sleep, offering a form factor that traditional headphones simply cannot match.
Battery performance here is solid for its intended use case. The upgraded battery chip delivers up to 12 hours of continuous playtime after a quick 1-to-2-hour charge cycle. While this is less than the MEE audio transmitter's marathon runtime, it is perfectly adequate for a full day of classes, a long commute, or an entire night of sleep. The inclusion of Bluetooth 5.4 ensures stable connectivity with smartphones and computers, though it lacks the specific low-latency codec support found in the MEE unit. The Perytong 2 is ideal for anyone who wants to listen to audiobooks, music, or lectures without the discomfort of earplugs falling out or pressing against the ear canal. It is a lifestyle product first and an audio device second.
• Best for battery life → MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight, offering up to 20 hours on a single charge compared to the Perytong 2's 12 hours.
• Best for compatibility with old hardware → MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight, as it connects directly to 3.5mm jacks on planes, TVs, and gym equipment.
• Best for sleep and side-sleeping → Perytong 2, because its flat, fabric design prevents ear pain when lying on your side.
• Best for sound fidelity and latency → MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight, due to its aptX Low Latency support for lag-free audio.
• Best for hygiene and maintenance → Perytong 2, since the fabric headband is machine washable.
• Best value for multi-device users → MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight, which can connect to two headphones simultaneously.
• Best for active sports and yoga → Perytong 2, given its sweat-absorbent, stretchable fit that stays secure during movement.
• Best for portability → Both are highly portable, but the MEE unit is lighter (17g) while the Perytong 2 offers more coverage as a wearable.
In my opinion, the choice between these two depends entirely on whether you are solving a connectivity problem or seeking a comfort upgrade. If you are a college student constantly moving between environments—studying in a room with an old TV, commuting on a bus with no Bluetooth, or flying internationally—the MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight is the more versatile tool. It unlocks functionality on hardware that otherwise wouldn't support your modern headphones. However, if your primary struggle is the physical discomfort of wearing headphones while sleeping or exercising, the Perytong 2 is the superior choice. I would buy the MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight if I needed to ensure I could hear entertainment systems anywhere I went, but I would choose the Perytong 2 if I wanted to enjoy audio without ever taking a headset off my head.
Yes, both options serve students well depending on their needs. The MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight is excellent for students who need to use campus gyms or older dorm TVs with their own Bluetooth headphones. The Perytong 2 is ideal for students who want to study or sleep without the pressure of earbuds, offering a comfortable, washable alternative.
The MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight is a transmitter that sends audio to your existing headphones, so it relies on the microphone built into whatever headphones you plug it into. The Perytong 2 is a standalone headband with touch controls but does not explicitly list a built-in microphone in its specifications for calls, focusing instead on media playback and sleep.
The MEE audio unit is built with a plastic enclosure designed for travel durability and includes a 1-year manufacturer's warranty. The Perytong 2 features a fabric construction with a 2-year warranty, emphasizing longevity in daily wear and the ability to withstand washing cycles, making it highly durable for active use.
