With martial arts training, Medjay Martial Arts is one of the best ways to get in shape, develop coordination skills and build strength - all while having fun! Children will begin learning all of the self-defense techniques and Black Belt Excellence principles to become a well rounded martial artist, both physically and mentally. Students will learn important life lessons like Respect, Anger Management, Positive Self-Image and more through daily mat-chats with our Head Instructors. Students are taught to make wise, intelligent decisions as we emphasize common sense over self-defense, and never favor aggressive behavior. All children participate in every skill and drill as we emphasize speed, accuracy, and power in a safe, individual-performance based system to help our students reach their goals. You will grow to be more confident knowing that you have the ability to protect yourself and your loved ones anywhere - anytime. Furthermore, our workouts will help you conquer your fears and channel your stress into something positive. We not only help our students get in shape, we also build up their self-esteem so that they can tackle life's challenges head on! We have prepared an exciting curriculum for the full school year, students may also join during the 2nd semester to begin their Martial Arts journey.
In the first few weeks of the semester, our focus will be on building a
strong foundation—establishing core techniques and introducing the
social expectations of the class. This will naturally vary based on the age
group and prior experience of the students, but generally includes basic
boxing punches and introductory karate kicks.
As the semester progresses, we will introduce self-defense applications
and controlled takedowns on mats. In honor of our program’s name,
Medjay Martial Arts, students will also train with the Khopesh, the
iconic curved sword of Ancient Egypt. Each student will receive their
own foam or training-safe khopesh to practice with and keep at the end
of the semester.
By the latter part of the semester, students will begin combining earlier
techniques into more advanced sequences, developing both physical skill
and creative problem-solving in martial application.
