Jorge L. Medina

Welcome to my website. I am a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Stevens Institute of Technology. I graduated from Rutgers University in Newark with a B.A. in Economics and from the City University of New York Graduate Center with a Ph.D. in Economics.

My research interests have centered around the field of applied microeconomics, especially health economics, where I have focused on the economics of substance use and abuse.  Currently, I am expanding my research to the economics of equity and inclusion to understand inequalities in the labor market participation of LGBTQ+ individuals and potential health consequences resulting from discrimination. I have also extended my research to the area of transportation and maritime economics to collaborate with colleagues with different research interests.
