You may be familiar with smoking weed for recreational purposes and for pleasure. You might have also heard of people using marijuana for medicinal purposes, especially for treating things like pain and anxiety. However, did you know that cannabis can actually be really beneficial for cancer patients, specifically patients with stage 4 cancer? Cancer has been in the medical marijuana conversation for quite some time now, and a lot of it has to deal with the fact that we do not currently have a ton of options for helping people overcome something like cancer. The worst thing about cancer is that there is still a lot we do not know about it. While there has been some progress when it comes to learning about it;s causes and certain ways to treat and prevent it, we are still very novice in detecting it and treating cancer before it gets too bad. Unless you or someone close to you has had a cancer diagnosis, you may not have a great understanding of what it actually does and how life-threatening it can be. Cannabis definitely has a place in the medical world regarding cancer.

If you don’t believe me, just look at the medical marijuana programs in our country. Most every state that has legalized medical marijuana has listed cancer as one of the qualifying conditions that one must have to apply for and obtain their own medical marijuana card. In this article today, I am going to be talking more about cancer and how marijuana can be used as an alternative treatment option for people with cancer. Hopefully you can learn a lot from this article and it can be really helpful and insightful for you in the future.

So what are the stages of cancer that you should know about? Well, it is first important to keep in mind that there are 4 different stages. Stage one of cancer means that the cancer has been detected in one part of the body but has not metastasized to different parts of the body. This is considered to be the stage at which the cancer is most curable. However, as the stages progress, the cancer begins to spread more and more through the body and it can be very hard to treat and get rid of. Cancer can have a wide range of pretty nasty symptoms, and the most common symptoms that patients with cancer experience are nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, dry skin, insomnia, headaches, muscle pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety, bowel disorders.

The diagnosis of cancer can be very traumatizing and can create some pretty severe mental disorders as well. All in all, it is not a fun thing to have. However, using cannabis to treat some of these symptoms is becoming more and more popular. Some other medications, like prescription opioids, have been prescribed to medical patients but are not nearly as effective as using something like cannabis. Plus, prescription opioids have gotten some negative attention over the last couple years due to the way that they can make one addicted and lead to misuse and abuse. There are a lot of ways that cannabis can actually help cancer patients, and the number one way usually is helping patients that are on their last legs, so to speak. Cancer patients that are in stage 4 are usually at the end of their life, and marijuana can be something that can make them much more comfortable in those end stages. One way that cannabis can help is through appetite stimulation. Ever heard of the munchies? Oftentimes, people with cancer do not have the appetite that they need to nourish their bodies, and cannabis can help.
