Q: What is Medi-Ance?
A: We are a youth-led nonprofit organization focused on medicine, mental health, and creative healing. Our mission is to spread health awareness, advocate for inclusion, and bring hope to patients and communities through projects like Letters of Hope and interviews
Q: Who runs this organization?
A: We are led by the founder, Ayisha Rodriguez-Akande, and students passionate about healthcare, with support from volunteers, mentors, and professionals in the medical field.
Q: Do I need to be interested in medicine to join?
A: Not at all! While many of our members are interested in health careers, we welcome anyone passionate about helping others, storytelling, art, advocacy, or community service.
Q: How can I become a member or volunteer?
A: Easy! Just fill out the form linked in our Instagram bio or website. Youโll receive a welcome email with next steps.
Q: Whatโs the difference between a member and a volunteer?
A: Members are more involved long-term (helping with planning, projects, and content). Volunteers can support specific projects or events without a long-term commitment. Both are essential to our impact!
Q: Do I need experience to join?
A: No experience required โ just passion and willingness to learn. We provide guidance and opportunities for everyone.
Q: Is there a time commitment?
A: Members usually commit 2โ3 hours per week. Volunteers can join based on availability and interest in specific projects.
Q: What is Letters of Hope?
A: Letters of Hope is one of our signature programs where volunteers write letters, create cards, or design digital notes to bring joy to kids in hospitals and seniors in care facilities. We deliver these monthly in partnership with local hospitals.
Q: What is Dreams on Canvas? (Upcoming)
A: Dreams on Canvas lets children with chronic illnesses share dreams or ideas they imagine. Local artists and volunteers turn these dreams into art and gift them back to the child, spreading creativity and positivity.
Q: Do you plan other projects?
A: Yes! We also run health awareness campaigns, blog articles, podcasts, and interviews with medical professionals and students.
Q: Do you partner with schools or hospitals?
A: Yes, partnerships are key to our impact! We work with hospitals, schools, and community groups to share resources, deliver projects, and support patients. If youโd like to partner, email us at mediancezone@gmail.com.
Q: How can other organizations collaborate with you?
A: We welcome collaborations! From co-hosting awareness events to supporting projects like Letters of Hope, weโd love to connect. Reach out at mediancezone@gmail.com.
Q: Do you offer service hours? (Working on this currently)
A: Yes โ many of our volunteer activities (letters, campaigns, creative projects) can count toward community service hours. Weโre happy to confirm hours for students. However, this is currently being worked on.
Q: How can I support if I canโt volunteer?
A: Sharing our content and spreading the word helps a ton! You can also support by donating supplies (art materials, card-making supplies) or contributing to fundraising efforts when they launch.
