MediaFlock 2026 is a multi-institutional art festival hosted at CCRMA in April 2026. The festival will feature multimedia art pieces from CCRMA and other California universities, and will be hosted for free for the public to attend. The festival is designed to showcase multimedia student art, promote exchanges of technologies, techniques, and perspectives, and facilitate discussion on collaboration and accessibility of art-making. We believe that doing so empowers artists to imagine new forms of artistic expression and builds an inclusive and diverse community.
The MediaFlock festival is organized with the belief that facilitating critical and productive conversations around art pieces requires diversity in the pieces’ technical and creative approaches to art-making processes. In the world of multimedia art, the output of artists is inherently and partially shaped by the technologies, media, and venues that are available to them. Therefore, new collaborative possibilities may emerge from interacting with artists that 1) utilize different sets of tools, 2) have different target audiences, and 3) hold different definitions of what art can be. Each academic department—and institution on a broader scale—offers unique resources and opportunities to student artists. It is because of this reason that the festival promotes multi-departmental and multi-institutional participation and collaboration.
