Julia Jahr is a seasoned ceramics educator with over 14 years of experience teaching high school students. Growing up in central New Jersey, Julia was immersed in the world of ceramics from a young age. Her mother ran a studio from their basement, as a side business, fostering Julia’s lifelong connection to the medium. This early exposure to clay inspired her to pursue art in college, leading to a B.A. from Rutgers University and a teaching certification in 2012.
Julia furthered her education with an M.A. in Education from The College of New Jersey, focusing on administration. Passionate about sharing her love for clay, Julia specializes in handbuilding and wheel-throwing techniques, guiding her students through the foundational principles of ceramics. Her goal is to empower individuals with the skills and creativity to express themselves through the transformative process of working with clay.
