This site was created as part of an Eagle Scout Project for Tyler Omans of Scouts BSA's Troop 26 of Medford, NJ.
An Eagle Scout project is a large component of earning the Eagle Scout rank, the final rank of scouting. It is a project benefiting the community and demonstrates the scout's leadership.
This project was completed on April 2nd, 2022. It involved cleaning and straightening several of the signs.
63 historic signs were installed by the Medford Historic Advisory Board in 2004. Since then, several of them have been ill-maintained, a couple have fallen down, and some need straightening or cleaning. In addition to some surveying and cleaning done by the Medford Historical Society in the summer of 2020, this project straightened and cleaned signs. The goal was also to give the signs more of a virtual presence as previous information could be hard to come by.
During the work day on April 2nd, the scouts also took pictures of the 56 currently standing signs. Over the following day, the pictures were organized and the scouts met virtually led by eagle scout candidate Tyler Omans to design this website.

The introduction of the Medford Historic Advisory Board's booklet reads as such:
"A major purpose of the preparation and distribution of this booklet to Medford's residents is to acquaint today's young people and tomorrow's decision makers with the unique and historic nature of the town we live. It is our hope that the information about the historic persons, sites, and buildings presented here will be one step toward an increased appreciation of Medford's past and the need for future preservation of the rich historical heritage within our community." I hope to continue this preservation and promotion of Medford's history with this eagle project. Thank you for reading and visiting this page.
