What actually happened?:
A young Boston officer named Henry Knox proposed that he and his men travel to Ticonderoga to bring cannon to Boston. Washington consented.
Through some combination of effort and miracles, Knox's team of oxen were able to haul the cannon over the snowy mountains and deliver them to Washington near Boston at Dorchester Heights.
Now Washington had the artillery needed to blow Howe out of Boston.
However, he still lacked the necessary gunpowder to bombard the city.
