Expelling Howe from Boston

• Upon taking control of the Continental Army in the outskirts of Boston, Washington's task was to expel the British army from the city of Boston.

• Washington lacked cannon and gunpowder for the task. The Americans had access to cannon from a British Fort they recently confiscated, Ticonderoga, in New York. But Ticonderoga was hundreds of miles distant, and across the Appalachian mountains covered with snow.
