DEPARTMENT HEADS
Over the last year and a half, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office has been through change — and I’ve made it my mission to bring this department back to its roots: firm law enforcement, constitutional values, and service to the people.
I’m Sheriff Jason Myers, and before I wore this badge, I served as Commissioner of NC Wildlife, protecting the land and our natural resources. I later took up the mantle as Chief Deputy for both CMPD and MHPD, where I learned what real law enforcement leadership means on the street. That experience shaped me — and it’s what I brought with me when I was elected Sheriff of Mecklenburg County on the Republican vote.
Since day one, my goal has been simple: do the best job I can and build an MCSO that people can count on. We’re not here for politics. We’re here to work. This department backs the Constitution. We don’t bend, and we don’t break.
Our primary focus is drug enforcement. We’re hitting the streets, taking down dealers, and shutting off supply lines. We’re also working closely with ICE and other federal partners to make sure the worst of the worst don’t get a free pass.
To put it bluntly:
Don’t fuck with MCSO unless you want to get fucked.
We're not out here for photo ops. We're out here for justice.

Over the last year and a half, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office has undergone significant change — and I’ve made it my mission to restore this department to its core values: firm law enforcement, constitutional integrity, and dedicated service to the community.
I’m Major Bryan Kohl, and before I wore this badge, I served as an agent with Homeland Security Investigations, focusing on combating organized crime and human trafficking. Later, I took on leadership roles within the Federal Bureau and the Federal Marshal Service, where I learned the importance of decisive, street-level law enforcement and strategic, high-level leadership. These experiences shaped my vision — and it’s what I brought with me when I was appointed to the rank of Major within the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
Since my first day, my goal has been clear: to lead the MCSO with strength, transparency, and a commitment to excellence. We’re not here for political games. We’re here to deliver results. This department stands unwavering in its dedication to the Constitution. We don’t compromise, and we don’t back down.
Our top priority is tackling the scourge of drugs in our community. We’re taking a hardline approach, targeting dealers, dismantling supply networks, and working with ICE and federal partners to ensure dangerous criminals face justice.
To put it simply:
Don’t mess with MCSO unless you’re ready to face the consequences.
We’re not about appearances. We’re about action.
