The structure is designed in a space frame format due to its lightweight and high strength.
It has been tested using computer simulation programs to simulate dynamic impact strength testing.
The team constructed the actual structure using AISI
( American Iron and Steel Institute ) steel.
The design includes steel tubes with different diameters and wall thicknesses in three varying sizes.

The Society of Automotive Engineers ( SAE ) uses a designation system represented by the symbol SAE followed by a set of three additional characters. Each character has its own meaning :
First Character : A number from 1 to 9, indicating the general category of the steel.
Second Character : A letter that represents the amount of specific alloying elements present in the steel.
Third Character : A set of up to two digits that indicates the percentage of carbon in the steel.

1 = Carbon Steel
2 = Nickel Steel
3 = Nickel - Chromium Steel
4 = Molybdenum Alloy Steel
5 = Chromium Alloy Steel
6 = Chromium - Vanadium Alloy Steel
7 = Tungsten Alloy Steel
8 = Nickel - Chromium - Molybdenum Alloy Steel
9 = Silicon - Manganese Alloy Steel
Carbon steel is widely used for general applications, making it the most commonly used type of steel. The carbon content in carbon steel typically ranges from approximately 0.05% to 0.35%. When the carbon content is low, the steel exhibits lower hardness and strength. However, carbon steel can be easily machined using tools such as lathes, milling machines, and planers.
