Introduction to the Project

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act.

It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make healthy choices. As a mental health advocate, my team and I will conduct a project called “You Matter” that offers mental health to students. To make sure each student and young adults get treatment for mental health issues through assistance for schools to address pervasive violence and training for additional mental health professionals to provide mental health services in schools. We envision a future where students are more eager to go to school, ready to learn, be actively engaged in school activities, have supportive and caring connections with adults and young people, use appropriate problem solving skills and a positive school culture.

PROJECT "YOU MATTER"

Project “You Matter” aims to help and support students that are struggling, especially those who are at their lowest. It also aims to promote individual empowerment, and increase access to treatment and services even in schools for students so that they can be effective in learning and be focused. It also serves as their companion that lets them know that they are seen and that there is someone ready to listen because they matter. This project also wants to give professional help to those who cannot afford but seeks for it. It also aims to set a healthy and more open environment for those who are suffering from any mental health problem.

In this project, we will hire a licensed psychologist who will train the teachers and other volunteer students that will be the ones responsible in guiding and communicating with those mentally unstable students who seek help and guidance. We will also conduct a program for the parents where we’ll talk about mental health, its effects, the causes of problems, and the struggles that their kids might have gone through.

SUPPORT

The estimated amount of money that will be needed for this project is ranging from PHP 85,000 – PHP 100,000. This money will be used for professional fee, producing booklets and foods for the teachers and student volunteers in order for the project to happen.
