Teenage girl Cady Heron moves into the suburbs of Illinois, after being home-schooled in Africa by her scientist parents. Cady goes to her first public school facing a social pyramid of popularity. Cady and her new friend, Janis Ian, design a strategic plan to ruin Regina George's life and turn 'the plastics’ against each other. This plan soon backfires as Cady falls for Regina's ex-boyfriend, Aaron Samuels, and soon becomes a plastic herself.
The popular chick flick Mean Girls, directed by Mark Waters and written by Tina Fey, produced in 2004, was a worldwide success. From stereotypically ‘mean girls’ to ‘jocks’ and ‘nerds’ the movie is filled with comedy, friendship, coming of age, family, and romance. Its main focus is teenage interaction and high school cliche, the target of the film being young adults and teenagers. The film started with a budget of $17 million USD and accumulated a revenue of $129 million USD internationally. While being set in the Chicago area, the movie was filmed in Toronto, Canada. Huge names like; Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron), Rachel McAdams (Regina George), Tina Fey (Ms. Norbury), Lizzy Caplan (Janis Ian), and Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith), all feature in the film.
