This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Meal Planner - Daily Plan mobile application and related services, including our share web pages hosted at https://meal-planner-7bb1d.web.app.
By using the app, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account and Profile Information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect:
Email address
Display name / username (you may change this in the app)
Authentication provider (email/password or Google Sign-In)
Firebase user identifier (UID)
Email verification status (for email/password accounts)
1.2 Content You Create
To provide meal planning, recipes, and shopping features, we store data you enter or upload, including:
Weekly meal plans and meal slots
Custom meal names, order, and visibility per day
Recipes (title, description, ingredients, instructions, categories, prep time, links)
Recipe photos and instruction step images
Nutrition values you enter manually or generate using premium tools
Shopping lists and categories
Calorie and macro goals and daily nutrition summaries
Menus and multiple meal weeks (premium)
Theme and app settings (e.g. first day of week, scroll-to-today)
Share link settings (private vs. shared) for recipes, meal weeks, and shopping lists
1.3 Device and Technical Information
We may collect or process:
Device push notification token (FCM) when you allow notifications
Device time zone (used to schedule reminders in your local time)
App version (shown in Settings)
Engagement timestamps stored on your profile (e.g. last app open, last meal plan update, last planner/calorie view) to personalize notifications
Crash and error reports (Firebase Crashlytics) in non-debug builds
Aggregated usage analytics (Firebase Analytics, where enabled by Firebase SDK)
App Check signals to help protect backend calls (Google Play Integrity on Android)
We use local storage on your device (GetStorage) to cache your profile and preferences for faster loading and offline resilience. Cached data is cleared when you sign out without an active session.
1.4 Purchases
Subscription and in-app purchase status is processed through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat.
We store a mirror of premium status and individually purchased theme IDs in your Firestore user profile.
We do not receive your full payment card details.
1.5 Support Messages
If you use Contact Me (Settings), we collect your:
Name
Email
Message text
This information is sent to our support inbox via a Firebase Cloud Function.
1.6 Food Nutrition Analysis (Premium)
When you use AI-assisted nutrition features for recipes, the app may send:
Food photos you choose, or
Text descriptions of food
to Google Gemini APIs to identify food and estimate portion size, and to the USDA FoodData Central API to look up nutritional data.
These requests are made from the app to third-party services configured for the app. Results are stored in your recipe data in Firebase.
Nutrition outputs are estimates only and are not medical or dietary advice.
1.7 Shared / Public Content
If you set a recipe, meal week, or shopping list to “Shared”, anyone with the link may view that content through our web share viewer.
Shared content is accessed via opaque tokens in the URL, not your password.
2. How We Use Information
We use your information to:
Provide and sync meal planning, recipes, shopping, calorie tracking, and menus
Authenticate you and secure your account
Send optional push notifications (daily meal reminders, nutrition summaries, re-engagement messages) based on your preferences and activity
Process subscriptions and restore purchases
Respond to support requests
Improve reliability (crash reporting) and understand app usage (analytics)
Prevent abuse of Cloud Functions and shared content (Firebase App Check)
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
3. Legal Bases (EEA/UK Users)
Where applicable, we rely on:
Contract — to provide the app and account features you request
Consent — for optional notifications and where required for certain processing
Legitimate Interests — security, fraud prevention, product improvement, and support
Legal Obligation — where we must retain or disclose data by law

4. How We Store and Protect Data
Cloud Services: Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics, App Check)
Security: Industry-standard transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
Access Control: Access to your data is tied to your authenticated account
App Protection: We use App Check on supported platforms to reduce unauthorized API access
Data Retention
We keep your data while your account is active.
When you delete your account, we delete:
Firestore documents
Subcollections
Linked recipes
Storage files under your user path
Firebase Authentication account
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Sharing With Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information.
