A gypsy in spirit, after a childhood of moving from one country to another, Yvonne has never been able to answer the classic question “where do you come from”? For years she agonized over how to put her answer in a nutshell, how to wrap it up in a neat response. The answer was nowhere and everywhere. England, Germany, Turkey, France, Holland, Switzerland and she then moved back to Canada, after 16 years in the Canary Islands.
A business in tourism took Yvonne on countless inspiring journeys to exotic destinations and their influences remain in her soul to this day. She has developed a distinctive, intuitive style, stemming from her kaleidoscope of memories. The Intense colours of the Canary Islands, the red minerals in the volcanoes, the sun, sea, sand and fauna. Markets and Souks in Marrakesh, English country gardens and so much more.
Yvonne is a self-taught artist and at the start of a new chapter in her life
Yvonne’s art has been bought by collectors from around the world and is regularly featured in local shows. She is also one of the artists at Arbour Heights Studio
“It makes me happy that my artistic journey is bringing light and colour to other people’s lives. Knowing this fills me with joy every day.” -YMF
I am a Kingston-based contemporary abstract artist. My work is inspired by music, nature, architecture, travel, emotional & life themes. I work mainly with acrylics and also experiment with oil paint and wood sculptures. My works are colorful, often bold and saturated. Sometimes textured, other times smooth. I like to experiment with forms & lines which transform into something abstractly figurative and representational, a suggestion rather than a description. With each piece I create, my goal is to put on canvas or wood, that which I'm unable to fully express in words. I want to transcend the energetic & vibrational connection I feel with the universe, into something loosely interpretive.
Janet was looking for something to do when she retired...she took lessons in painting, pottery and other crafts, but it wasn't until she took Beginner Silversmithing at the Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club in 2004, that she had her "ah-ha" moment. She was hooked! Then she had too many creations, so she decided to go into art shows. Her jewellery is one of a kind, organic and inspired by nature. She also likes to repurpose interesting items. Because her jewellery is so different, she calls her business Pazzesco, which means "crazy" in Italian. Many of her pieces have a background story which she will be sure to share!
Bonnie is a painter from Amherstview, Ontario. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts honours degree focusing in painting, from Nipissing University, in 2015. Her studies in art history, technique and theory, combined with a personal interest in sociology and narratives, direct her art.
Bonnie has exhibited widely in various public collections throughout her previous home city of North Bay, with additional shows in Kingston at Martello Alley Gallery and the Tett Center for Creativity and Learning. Her paintings are in various private collections across Canada and the USA.
Hi! My name is Ashleigh and I use the name ‘ashwee_creates’ for my art. My best friend in highschool gave me the nickname and it kind of stuck. Making things makes me happy so I do it as often as I can. I feel my best when I am in the sun and near trees so the natural world tends to influence the art that I make. I enjoy creating with all sorts of mediums including (but not limited to): drawing, painting, sewing, crochet, knit and embroidery.”
Annette Bruneau is a self-taught artist who dabbles in many mediums, primarily decorative and functional ware in Stoneware and Earthenware .
Love creating whimsical glass art in the form of a night light and sun catcher pieces. My love for a season particularly Halloween influences my creative juices usually year round as my sugar skulls are one of many different designs which are my most popular pieces in which I love designing different ways.
