Our Ground
Our home ground is located at the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve - Hanily Street Meeniyan. Since 1977, the Club has played at the Meeniyan Recreation Reserve.
However that hasn’t always been the case. With the amalgamation in 1964, the M.D.U. Club commenced playing at the Meeniyan ground and finished the season playing at the Dumbalk Recreation Reserve. It is thought that from 1965 – 68, the Club started the season at the Dumbalk Rec. Reserve and finished the season playing at the Meeniyan Rec. Reserve. In 1969, the season commenced at Meeniyan and finished at Dumbalk with this being the final season of splitting the season at the 2 venues.
It is thought that 1970 saw the season played at Dumbalk, 1971 at Meeniyan, 1972 at Dumbalk, 1973 – 74 at Meeniyan with the 1975 – 76 years played at Dumbalk while the Meeniyan Rec. Reserve was being re-constructed.
From 1977, the M.D.U. Football Netball Club’s home matches have been played at Meeniyan. However, the Dumbalk Rec. Reserve hasn’t been abandoned completely as it has been used over recent years as an occasional pre-season training venue for the footballers.
We are proud that Meeniyan Recreation Reserve has hosted the Alberton League Grand Final from 2014 until 2018 and since joining the Mid Gippsland League, we hosted the 2024 Grand Final.
