I was the volunteer at iceeict 2015.The 2nd International Conference on Electrical Engineering and Information Communication Technology (ICEEICT 2015) aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Electrical, Electronics, Communication Engineering and IT, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. The conference is jointly organized by Institute of Information Technology of Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka-1342 and Dept. of Electrical Electronics & Communication Engineering of Military Institute of Science and Technology, Mirpur, Dhaka. Prospective authors are invited to submit original technical papers for presentation at the conference and publication in the conference proceedings. All submitted papers will be peer reviewed. The paper of the last conference has been included in IEEE Xplore Digital Library and this time all accepted, registered and presented papers will be included in IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
Hackathon is a popular marathon coding event recognized globally. I along with my group members attended the national hackathon 2014 organised by the Information and Technology Division of Bangladesh Government. It was a non-stop 36 hour programming event to solve 10 national issues which held at Dhaka. Our target was to build a mobile application and collaborative network based solution to stop women’s insecurity, specially sexual harassment in our society.
A total of 1, 675 programmers, freelancers, students, app-builders are taking part in the hackathon divided in 288 teams. 59 professional companies are also participating. The ultimate gain of hackathon is the great collaboration and exhibition of skills of developers in a given time period.
Talking about our solution to stop the women harassment, it was basically a android application which would be installed on women’s smartphone so that on case of any kind of insecurity she can notice the the nearest police station using GPS of the phone with minimum interaction, just shaking the phone. The nearest police station will use the web app to view any alert notice in the area on a google map.
Beyond the development part, there were several presentations to motivate judges and brainstorming ideas. Co-operation and sharing of knowledge always helps to bring out the perfect solution, often difficult to solve individually.
IIT JU is arranging 2nd iCEEiCT at Jahangirnagar University on 21-23 May, today is the opening day. Its really a great experience to arrange and participate an international conference in our own premises. Working together, our respected teachers, classmates, juniors and seniors we have come to stage the immense program. The opportunity to meet and collaborate with so many students, faculties, researchers working on the field of electrical and information and communication Technology from home and abroad is a massive opportunity. Being a part of the event is a big fortune for me.
The event has been possible for the incredible hard work of our respected teachers Shamim A. Mamun and M. Shamim Kaiser. I feel happy to publish a paper in the conference with their supervision, my thankful gratitude to them.
Without some great hearts this event would not come into existence. I want to thank our all teachers and all volunteers for working day and night and gift us the conference. Still two more days to go. Hope for the best outcome and obviously a happy ending on the day after tomorrow.
