Short Description: We provided a detailed analytical evaluation of an optimal sink itinerary planning in network-coding-based-multicast WSNs as a mixed-integer linear problem. Although this problem is NP-hard, the mathematical formulation can help us assess the essence and understand the hardness of this problem. We then propose a genetic algorithm for sink itinerary planning in network-coding-based-multicast WSNs that run much faster. The efficiency of our algorithm is demonstrated by simulation results under different traffic patterns.

Short Description: To utilize network coding in WSNs, the computational complexity and memory requirements should stay within the bounds permitted by sensors. This research investigates the problem of memory constraint in the subgraph selection for network-coding-based-multicast WSNs. We propose an optimization problem with the memory usage objective for network-coding-based-multicast WSNs. We also presented a distributed algorithm to solve this optimization problem.

Short Description: HomePNA3.0 and Ethernet are similar in MAC sublayer; hence, HomePNA3.0/Ethernet re-configurable implementation was appeared cost-effective. In this research, we proposed a new re-configurable hybrid architecture. We implemented the proposed architecture at the behavioral level using VHDL language. Our implementation was able to have HomePNA3.1 and Ethernet MACs together. Our synthesis shows that our implementation decreases the number of logical elements by 32%.
