Hello! I am Johir. Welcome to my website. You can find my CV here.
I am a Senior Research Associate at BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University, and attached to Human Capital Research Unit under the supervision of Dr. Munshi Sulaiman, Dr. Khandker Wahedur Rahman, and Dr. Shaila Ahmed. Previously I worked as a Research Associate at the same institution. I also worked as a part-time (remote) Research Assistant for Dr. Naila Kabeer, Professor of Gender and Development, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
Prior to that, I worked as a Trainee Research Associate (Quant) at BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University under the Young Researchers' Fellowship program 2022. My research interest lies in Development Economics and Behavioral Economics. I'm passionate about addressing challenges in developing countries through three lenses: experimental research, economic/mathematical modeling, and behavioral theory. My focus spans a variety of issues, including child marriage, social protection, poverty, intimate partner violence, empowerment, education, mental health, sleep, alcoholism, microcredit, child development, and parenting. Besides, I also have a keen interest in contributing to the methodology of randomized experiments.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, and I am currently pursuing a master’s in Mathematics at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), Bangladesh.
