The Emergency Room has taken a new role in health service delivery, catering almost all cases, in order to meet the demands of our clients. In response to this, the formerly known emergency room is now called the Department of Emergency Medical Services.
The Manila Doctors Hospital – Department of Emergency Medical Services (MDH-DEMS) holds true to this duty to our patients. On July 1, 1991, the MDH-DEMS established a new structure. Part of the DEMS staff is a medical consultant that serves as the ED officer aside from the regular ED personnel composed of the nursing staff, medical interns and residents. This is to make sure of the high quality of medical service provided at the emergency room. The number of ED consults steadily grew year after year and on January 25, 1995, the MDH-DEMS was transferred to a bigger and more accessible location at U.N. Avenue. With this upgrade, more consultants have been hired to serve as EM consultants and in January 2009, an official Emergency Medicine residency program was initiated.
Today, the MDH-DEM continues to provide emergency medical services to all its clients and also currently serving as an Animal Bite Center.
We envision the Department of Emergency Medicine of Manila Doctors Hospital to be a model department promoting Manila Doctors Hospital as a leading center of excellence in health care and wellness in the Philippines providing holistic quality and client-centered service in partnership with stakeholders.
In pursuit of our vision, our claims are:
