Matthew D. Gordon

I am an Assistant Professor at the Paris School of Economics. My research focuses on the distributional consequences of environmental policy in low-income countries using structural modelling, causal inference, and machine learning. I am currently working on topics including disaster reconstruction aid, the global trade in waste materials, and the use of satellite data in environmental policy.

I received my PhD from the Yale School of the Environment in 2023. Before that, I worked for the New York City Economic Development Corporation, led student trips to India, Mexico, Ecuador, and Spain, and worked as a ski instructor. I have a BA in Philosophy from Hamilton College, and a Master's degree from the London School of Economics.
