I received the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB) Master Platinum Boardmember - that's their second highest honor.
To date, I have taken 38 of the 3-hour MASB courses and have spoken at MASB conferences.
In 2017, I was elected to the Board of Directors for ISTE, the premier educational technology organization in the world. I served as Secretary for 3 years and was re-elected last year for another 3-year term.
We meet regularly in Washington, DC, and in locations where our annual conference is held, most recently in New Orleans.
As someone who helps train future teachers, it is essential that I keep current on emerging technologies and how they are used in the classroom. I think my training over the last few years has helped me to understand and anticipate the role of technology in Saline Area Schools.
As a professor, not only do I need to keep current with trends and scholarship in my field, I need to contribute to that larger conversation.
I was a co-author on Championing Technology Infusion in Teacher Preparation, a book that is beginning to make some waves in teacher preparation. I have also scholarship published on private supplementary education in Southeast Asia.
I have been honored to receive several awards over the past few years including the Saline Be Green award, the College of Education Outstanding Faculty Award, and Eastern Michigan Univeristy's Collin's Award for Service.
Service is an absolutely essential component of my life and work.
And finally, I am also the proud father and stepfather to three wonderful children and proud husband to Christen Mitchell, a Saline graduate and former member of Saline City Council.
