The MyHealthPath study aims to help primary care patients decide if they want to make lifestyle changes, such as changing diet and physical activity, and if so, what types of changes would they want to make. The purpose of this study is to see what approach is best to help people make these choices. In this study, we will partner with primary care clinics in the Gainesville and Jacksonville area. Assessments for the study include surveys and monthly weigh-ins.
The FoodTrack+ study aims to find out if there are any patterns when we track food purchases and body weight over a long period of time. This is a 12-month study where participants will weigh themselves daily and then use an app called Empower to track their food purchases throughout these 12 months. Participants also fill out online questionnaires throughout the duration of the study.
The Weight Treatment Perspective study is an online survey where patients answer questions based on their perspectives and current knowledge about weight loss medication as well as "alternative" approaches to weight loss. The purpose of the study is to build a better understanding of what patients from different sociodemographic backgrounds know and feel about weight loss medication and other approaches to weight loss.
The Connect4Health study aims to test the effectiveness of UTOOLs, a primary care-based intervention that encourages patients to use free, evidence-based online tools like MyFitnessPal and weight loss support communities. This is a 52-week long randomized trial. The outcomes will focus on engagement models and weight loss success, with the ultimate goal of scaling the program if effective.
