“Worldview for the Creative Development of Life, Community, and Global Society”
The Master of Arts in Global Studies at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) explores the world as an interconnected system—linking politics, economics, society, culture, technology, and the environment. The program emphasizes local–global dynamics (local to global and global to local) and encourages students to connect past, present, and future in order to better understand contemporary change and shape responsible responses.
Today’s most pressing challenges—climate change, pandemics, inequality, forced migration, conflict, and digital governance—are complex and deeply interdependent. Global Studies equips students with the ability to analyze these issues across disciplinary boundaries, build evidence-based arguments, and translate insight into practical and ethical action.
MCU’s Global Studies program integrates rigorous global analysis with Buddhist philosophical foundations as an ethical and reflective framework. This distinctive approach supports students in developing clarity of thought, social responsibility, and a commitment to sustainable and just development—while remaining grounded in real-world contexts.
Graduates strengthen core capacities essential for cross-cultural and cross-sector work, including:
Critical thinking and evidence-based analysis
Research and academic writing for graduate-level study
Cross-cultural communication and interdisciplinary synthesis
The ability to work with complexity, uncertainty, and change
