We all know Steve Rogers as the great american hero Captain America. He fought alongside many significant others such as James Buchanan (Bucky) Barnes and Peggy Carter in World War II.
Steve Rogers was a weak man. Born on July 4, 1918, Steve had a very kind and generous heart. However, he had a whole list of allergies and illnesses. Steve's father died of mustard gas and his mother died of tuberculosis. Steve Rogers's best friend was James Buchanan (Bucky) Barnes. They were friends since childhood and are still friends in the final movie of the Infinity Saga (Avengers Endgame).
Steve wanted to be in the US army. He felt that he had no less right to risk his life then the other army men. Bucky was already a Sergeant in the US Army, and even though Steve knew that Bucky was Steve eventually took military training classes under Colonel Chester Phillips (one of the founding members of SHIELD) to see if he was ready to fight in war. Steve wasn't physically able to do some of the things the other students could do, but he used his wit to save him. One time, Steve and his fellow soldiers went running for training. Agent Peggy Carter rode in a truck in front of them. They ran like, 5 miles. When they reached the halfway point, the lead soldier said "That flag means we're only at the halfway point. First man to bring it to me gets a ride back with Agent Carter. Move, Move!" All the soldiers immediately started to climb the pole to get the flag. When they all failed, the lead soldier told them to continue running. Steve didn't. He approached the flag pole and unscrewed its screws. This caused to pole to fall down so he could grab the flag easily. Steve got a ride back with Peggy Carter.
One day, the soldiers were training by doing jumping jacks and push ups. Chester Phillips and Dr. Abraham Erskine were discussing who would be the best candidate for the super soldier serum. The doctor thought that it should be Steve Rogers. Col. Phillips disagreed. So, they threw a grenade at the soldiers to see who would be the bravest person against a grenade. All the soldiers ran away, except Steve. He sat on the grenade, trying to protect everyone. Turns out it was a fake grenade and Dr. Erskine had proved to the Colonel that Steve was the perfect candidate.
