This time last week, Wigan's latest group The Lathums announced the release of their long-awaited debut album. Since then, they've already opened a market stall for a day, sold out two limited vinyl pressings, and announced a Listening Party for the album...
'How Beautiful Life Can Be' will release on Friday 24th September on Island Records. It's produced at by The Coral's James Skelly and Chris Taylor at Parr St Studios, Liverpool and is available to pre-order now. The album is available on Black, Silver and Gold Vinyl, as well as CD and Cassette, with the limited Yellow Vinyl and Picture Discs already sold out. The band also sold limited first editions of the album at their stall in Wigan Market on Saturday, where they played a short acoustic set and met fans personally throughout the day.
This announcement follows the latest singles, 'Oh My Love' and 'How Beautiful Life Can Be' - the latter now the title track for the upcoming album. And, alongside the news, a new recording of the fan-favourite track 'The Great Escape' was released on streaming services. The album's tracklist also includes 'Fight On', currently their most popular song, 'I See Your Ghost', 'I Know That Much' and 'Artificial Screens' - famed for its live performances. The album will also feature 5 new songs.
The band will be hosting a Listening Party on Twitter with Tim Burgess on Sunday 26th September. You can read along and share your thoughts online as you listen to the album, and you can do this together with other Lathums fans at Piccadilly Records, Wax and Beans, and many more record stores on the day. Our long-time collaborators MU23 have released an EP of live sessions entitled 'The Rehearsals'. The EP features sessions dating back to 2019 of the band performing 4 of their original tracks and is now available to listen to on streaming services...
MU23 featured in our Virtual Concert in 2020, for which they recorded an exclusive version of Nado, and many of the band members featured on 22, Anthems and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Over the past month, we have worked tirelessly on our biggest projects to date, which are now all available to enjoy...
'22', our original song, was made in remembrance of the tragic Manchester terror attack in 2017. It was performed by the Manchester Rainbow band and written/produced by Aaron Jones. You can find more information on the project here and it is now available on streaming services, with the official video on YouTube.
Our 'Virtual Concert 2021' was put together to celebrate Manchester and its rich background in music. It features Manchester bands Proletariat and UNO MAS, and CityLights, hailing from the West Midlands. You can watch the concert for free on YouTube now!
Alongside this, we also released 'Anthems'. This brand new medley of Manchester's most famous and greatest songs was also performed by the Manchester Rainbow band and it is available to watch here

Fans of Affleck's Palace have eagerly awaited this album for many months. Following studio clips and teasers, the band has announced that their debut album 'What Do You Mean It's Not Raining' will release this summer on Spike Island Records. Of the three vinyl pressings the band have teased, the first 'Black Grape' edition sold out in minutes when it was made available to members of their mailing list...
They have also released the first single from the album - 'This City is Burning Alive' - which has already been met with praise from their growing fanbase. You can also catch them headlining a sold out show at Manchester's Gorilla this September if you were lucky enough to buy tickets when they were available.

Cobain signed to Modern Sky UK/Run on Records last year.
After the well-received singles Hooked and Wonder at the end of last year (read our full review here), Tameside's Cobain Jones is set to release 'She Plays' on the 5th February.
The young singer-songwriter previously released an acoustic rendition of the song on his 'Unplugged' EP but this new version is all new to Cobain's growing fanbase.
The song has been produced by The Coral's James Skelly who also plays some guest parts on the track.
We can't wait to hear the new track, and we are sure that it won't disappoint...

'We Are Manchester' have slowly built up a reputation throughout the Coronavirus pandemic with a steady stream of livestreams featuring a range of talented music acts. Across the past 25 livestreams, fans have seen the likes of Garden Party, The Pagans SOH, Callow Youth, Jess Kemp, and many hundreds more musicians take part.
Across multiple platforms, We Are Manchester share information musical events and always remain active to help promote unsigned and smaller acts reach bigger audiences.
The monumental 25th livestream was broadcast on the 17th January. Alongside soloists Alex Cavan and Ollie West, the event saw 'power pop' band The Trend and singer-songwriter Alex Brierley top the bill. You can rewatch the livestream in its entirety below:

Launched by events promoter 'Everybody Belongs Here', the new online festival Music Feeds will raise money to help fight poverty, as well as charities supporting musicians who are struggling due to the pandemic. While the line-up originally announced on January 8th had just over 40 bands and soloists on the bill, it has since been expanded to include the likes of Manchester's own rockstar Liam Gallagher, DMC, and indie powerhouse James.
