What is Monte Carlo Method?
The word, “Monte Carlo”, is often used by scientists and engineers. But it is not so obvious to define the word concisely and accurately.
Survey on definitions of MC method
a technique using random or pseudo random numbers for solution of a model.
a numerical method of solving mathematical problems by the simulation of RVs.
Integrator using a sequence of random numbers.
“Monte Carlo method can utilize as a method to simulate nature, particle moving through physical objects."
Monte Carlo Chelleanges
The Monte Carlo method has advantage and disadvantage. In the particle transport analysis, the MC method can handle continuous energy cross section library and treat the complex geometric information directly without some approximations. To overcome the disadvantage of the MC method, we need some improvements. In the other words, it needs challenges.
Our researches and studies though last 4 years covers those MC challeges.
