Hello Everyone and welcome to my IT professional's Toolkit.
In many cases, an IT professional "is an evolving title that incorporates the job descriptions of software engineers and computer scientists." (Miller, 2008) I believe that an IT professional is someone who understands how information technology can add or create value to an organization. They have the ability to communicate to both upper management and to their own peers what value is created and be able to lead those in achieving that value.
The ideas of IT strategy, policy and governance are important concepts that an IT professional should be aware of as they work within their career. These concepts can help to guide professionals in how to create proper IT procedures. This will allow the organization to create value through value and help to meet the organizations goals
I believe that developing and collecting tools, techniques and best practices is important for IT professionals. The Toolkit provides professionals the opportunity to research new tools that they might not have considered. The toolkit allows the professional to grow and display their critical thinking skills. I was able to learn about new tools, techniques, and frameworks that assist in cyber security and broden my knowledge of the multiple frameworks (ITIL, COBIT, COMMIT) that are available.
