McMaster Concrete Canoe is a technical team within the McMaster University Faculty of Engineering, founded, led, and run by students. This is our third season competing in the Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition (CNCCC), offered by the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE). Together, our team works to design, construct, thematically display, and race a full-scale canoe made completely out of concrete and capable of supporting up to 4 paddlers at a time.
We provide a space where students of all engineering disciplines can apply theory and knowledge to create a competitive, sustainable, and innovative canoe design.
At McMaster Concrete Canoe, we operate under the core belief that innovation and collaboration through challenging projects are what shape great engineers. We offer students a safe and welcoming environment to learn and gain hands-on experience in designing, building, analyzing, and displaying our concrete canoe. Our team is made up of incredibly diverse and eager interdisciplinary students, and we’re beyond thrilled to take on the journey to the Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition.
Our team allows members to gain experience in construction, structural design and analysis, concrete mix design, and project management in a way that is not found in a typical classroom setting. These unique experiences prove invaluable to developing their technical and non-technical skills, making them more prepared to contribute meaningfully to the industry as early as this coming summer.
Thank you for your interest in being part of this experience as a student, sponsor, or otherwise. We look forward to a successful 2025-26 season and thank you for your support!
