McLoughlin Lab

Welcome to the McLoughlin Lab, established in 2016, in the Department of Neurology at Michigan Medicine. Our goal is to establish pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic interventions for neurodegenerative diseases with a particular emphasis on diseases that cause ataxia. Our work uses cell culture and transgenic mouse models as well as human tissue/biofluid samples to study neurodegenerative diseases. Our expertise includes surgical intervention, genetics, confocal imaging, and molecular and cellular biology techniques.

McLoughlin Lab Mission Statement

To conduct innovative mechanistic and translational ataxia research that strengthens lab members’ investigative and professional skills and contributes to the field and society in a meaningful way.
