Building on what you have:
Ask old mates in your present location for contacts in your new area. Many folks will be happy to reintroduce old relationships or to expand their circle by meeting friends of friends. You will already have something in common when you get together.
Pursuing passions & hobbies:
If you have an artistic inclination or an existing hobby, odds are, there is a chance to break in & meet folks in your region. Do some online digging to see if you can find a primary point of contact. Facebook groups and Meetup postings can be an excellent first place to get started.
Volunteering your time:
Besides meeting new folks in your new area, volunteering will also offer you a positive feeling about how you have unplugged into your new community. If you’ve kids who attend a regional school, look to participate with a parent organization, fundraising students in the district or coaching a sport. Inquire if your new place of work has connections with any area non-profits.
