Directors Message
Aloha,
My name is Mr. Joseph Nakamoto, and I am the band and orchestra teacher. As the school year starts, I want to thank you all for supporting the students in their musical journey. The benefits of playing an instrument cannot be compared, as the list is endless. By being in the McKinley Band and Orchestra, these students succeed in their musicianship, character, work ethic, and twenty-first-century skills that will change their lives. The students of the band and orchestra take pride in the program and stand for holding McKinley’s integrity as musicians & young adults. It is an extreme honor to be working with these hardworking students. Their countless hours of practicing & rehearsing, willingness to help and be there for one another, communication skills, and camaraderie all play a role in the integrity of what pride and tradition mean on our campus. I am excited for this school year and look forward to all the memories that represent the legacy of the McKinley High School Band and Orchestra.
Mahalo nui loa!
Joseph Nakamoto
