We are thrilled to share that the Monroe County Historical Society has been awarded a $5,000 matching grant from The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, funded in partnership with The 1772 Foundation. This support will help us take an essential next step in preserving the historic Depot Complex—one of the most visible and beloved landmarks in our community.
What the Grant Supports:
This 1:1 matching grant will directly fund critical preservation work, including:
*Brick repointing to stabilize aging masonry
*Repairing areas of eaves rot to prevent further deterioration
*Refacing the sidewalk to improve safety and accessibility
These repairs are not cosmetic—they are urgent, structural needs that protect the long‑term integrity of the Depot buildings and ensure they remain safe, welcoming, and historically authentic for generations to come.
We Need Your Help to Unlock the Full $5,000
Because this is a matching grant, every dollar you give is doubled. To receive the full award, we must raise $5,000 from our community. Your gift today directly preserves Monroe County’s heritage. Whether you give $10 or $250, your contribution has twice the impact.
How to Support the Project:
Donate online, mail a contribution, or stop by the Historical Society during business hours. All funds raised through this campaign will go exclusively toward the Depot preservation work.
