Tech/gap-year student, Jimmy Weagley
Jimmy is currently studied the process of convergent evolution in cavefish and utilized bioinformatics and population genomics to determine the evolutionary history of various Astyanax mexicanus lineages. Jimmy helped lead the stop codon work with Josh. Jimmy headed to WashU as a graduate student in Fall 2016 and joined Jeff Gordon's lab.
Undergraduate, Sonia Ehrlich
Sonia worked on protein evolution of uncoupling proteins between reptiles and mammals.
Postdoc, Eli Swanson
Eli is examined the role of nutrient availability on sleep phenotypes in cavefish by examining genomic data from a cave system that differs in sleep and nutrient availability. Eli completed his PhD at Michigan State University and worked on the influences of IGF-1 on reproduction and growth in spotted hyenas. Check out Eli's page here. Eli has taken a job as a Data Scientist in the Twin Cities.
