CPR Annual Recertification

CPR Annual Recertification – Hands on segment 

Can be completed by any station officer 

Skills to verify 

2 clinician adult CPR with AED application 

• Rate 100-120 compressions per minute 

• One breath every 10 compressions 

• Focus on high quality CPR  

• Ensure clinicians are hovering while AED is analyzing and performing CPR while AED is charging 

Children Excluding Newly born (Less than 24 hours old)

• Rate 100-120 compressions per minute 

• No LUCAS 

• 1 clinician – two breaths every 15 compressions 

• 2 clinicians – two breaths every 30 compressions 

Multiple clinicians applying LUCAS device 

• One clinician performing CPR  

• Once clinician ventilating and checking pulse at break 

• One clinician ready to take over CPR (opposite current CPR clinician) 

• One clinician ready to place back plate 

• One clinician straddling patient to lift slightly for back plate placement 

• Backplate placed on 3rd pulse check 

• Machine clipped in during 2-minute cycle WITHOUT INTERUPTING CPR PERFORMANCE 

• Complete LUCAS application at next pulse check
