    • Cell: 240-672-4065

    • Office: 240-773-8211

Will I get my results on the same day?

Every effort will be made to provide same day results. Occasionally, notification of results may take up to one week.

I am supposed to work on the day I am scheduled to take the OSCE. Will I be detailed? What if I am not scheduled to work?

The County will detail you, if needed. If the exam is scheduled during a non-working period, you will be compensated in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

What can I do to prepare?

The goal of the OSCE is to evaluate your ability to provide patient care, just as you would in the field. Review the OSCE components and identify any areas of weakness ahead of the exam.

How often are exams offered?

Exams are typically held on the 3rd Monday of the month.

Where is the OSCE conducted?

At the Public Safety Training Academy (8751 Snouffer School Road, Montgomery Village, MD), in the large conference room (#253).

What time do I need to arrive on the day of the exam?

0730

Are any resources allowed during the examination?

Maryland Protocol and other electronic resources may be used during the simulated patient encounters. We encourage the use of resources in prehospital care to reduce errors and ensure the highest level of patient care. Candidates may not continually use resources throughout the examination process. Candidates should have entry level awareness of, and the ability to apply, frequently encountered protocols and treatment algorithms. For example, it would be unreasonable for a candidate to use the protocol throughout an entire chest pain patient encounter, following the flowchart precisely from A to Z. It would be more appropriate for a candidate to reference the protocol for a less frequently encountered medication dosage or chief complaint.

No reference materials are permitted during any other section of the OSCE.
