I began my career in education as a 6th and 7th-grade math teacher, with a side of coaching football and track. I quickly became the go-to person for technology issues and jumped at a dream opportunity of becoming an instructional technology specialist after 5 years in the classroom. That job led me to receive my master's of education in administration and my principal's certification in 2019. My love of all things Google helped me to become one of the only Google Certified Trainers in the Tyler area.
I am currently a Media Technology Specialist in Tyler ISD and coordinate the East Texas Robotics and Coding competition. I aim to become an instructional technology coordinator for a district, a trainer for an educational company, or a consultant for robotics programs throughout the East Texas area. Doing all 3 of these jobs throughout the remainder of my career would be a huge win in my book.
I am married to a fellow educator who is my guinea pig for all new things technology related in the classroom. We have two spoiled dachshunds that think they're our kids. I love to play disc golf, fish, fly drones, and go to Crossfit. Unfortunately for my wife, I can quote my favorite movies verbatim and do so on a regular basis.
