Our top 10 reasons YOU should play Water Polo...
It will make you tough - just ask the Navy SEALS. Water polo may not be a sport riddled with injuries, but that doesn't mean you don't have to be tough to play. You are solving problems intellectually while trying to stay above water AND swimming up and down the pool using every muscle in you body...all while someone is trying to beat you down! There is a reason why many Navy SEALS were once water polo players...
It's a great team sport. Everyone relies on one another to be successful, which makes for a pretty cool team bond.
It requires incredible strength. Sure, football players are strong, but there's something admirable about someone who can tread water to stay afloat and throw a ball at the same time (go ahead, pat yourself on the back, you're awesome).
No running required. If you've always wanted to try a land sport (like soccer or basketball), but hate to run, water polo is the sport for you. Imagine a soccer net floating on top of the water. Score!
It's for EVERYONE: If you can swim...you can play!
It's a great complimentary sport for the dual-athlete. It will help increase your strength and endurance while giving you variety in the pool. It is also an excellent companion sport to many winter and spring sports!
What happens underwater, stays underwater. Although we don't condone foul play, we love a little friendly competition. It's always interesting to see what really goes on beneath the surface. What the refs don't see, won't hurt them-- right? Just kidding!!!
You can be any size or shape and be the best player in the world! You need to be fit and strong to play water polo, but there are no stereotypes when it comes to being the best in the pool. Being in the water evens out the playing field.
It's easy on your joints. Water polo is an intense, physical game, but the fact that it’s played in water means it’s easier on joints than sports played on hard ground. Are your knees struggling on a soccer or football field, or volleyball court? Then come on down and join us in the pool!
10. It's just plain fun. Enough said.
