Chicago: The Musical

In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess," Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune, and acquittal. This sharp-edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse. (Taken from Concord Theatricals)
Our production of Chicago was lucky enough to take place in a SpeakEZ inspired Cocktail Bar & Jazz Venue: Midtown GR. This venue was the main source of our vision for the piece. We shaped the concept, staging, choreography, design, orchestration, everything around the environment. What came out of it was a raunchy, meta-as-hell, exciting, and fresh take on an old favourite. It earned a total of nine Michigan Broadway World Nominations, winning Best Costume Design.
