Library Orientation Programme

Library and information Centre of Mandre College of Commerce, Economics and Management organised a library orientation programme for the students of F.Y.B.Com on 19th June 2026 at 9.30 am in F.Y.B.Com Claaroom. The main aim was to orient the students about the various library resources, services provided and activities conducted.

Word Quest: Newspaper Vocabulary Challenge

Library and information Centre of Mandre College of Commerce, Economics and Management organised a competition titled “Word Quest: Newspaper Vocabulary Challenge” for the students of F.Y.B.Com on 30th June 2026 during the library period to enhance students' vocabulary, reading habits, and communication skills. The primary aim of the activity was to encourage learners to read newspapers regularly, improve their vocabulary, develop dictionary skills, and build confidence in public speaking.

National Librarians' Day Celebratation

Our college celebrated National Librarians’ Day commemorating the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library and Information Science in India on 12th August 2026. The programme featured an inspiring address on the importance of reading by our Vice Principal, Ms. Chaitali Gawas, followed by a motivating speach by our College Librarian, Ms. Jovita Lobo. A display of new arrivals was also organised to encourage students to explore and read new books. The celebration was attended by students, teaching and non-teaching staff, making it a meaningful tribute to the legacy of Dr. Ranganathan and the power of reading. 

Bookmark Making Competition

The Library and Information Centre organized a Bookmark Making Competition on 17th August 2026 as part of the celebration of National Librarians’ Day. The theme of the competition was “Libraries: Gateways to Knowledge, Inspiration and Growth.”. The main motive of organizing this competition was to encourage students to develop creativity and artistic skills while promoting the importance of reading, books and libraries. A total of 14 students participated in the competition and submitted creative and colourful handmade bookmarks.The entries were judged by Ms. Vishaka Dawre, Assistant Professor in Commerce, and Mr. Devesh Naik, System Administrator.

Launch of the Library Website

The college library website was officially launched on 9th October 2026. The website was launched by Ms. Chaitali Gawas, Vice-Principal, in the presence of teaching, non-teaching staff and students. Mrs. Jovita Lobo, introduced the website and explained its various pages and features, highlighting the easy access it provides to library information, services, and digital resources. She expressed her gratitude to Mr. Raya Kerkar, Librarian Grade I, MTS staff -Ms. Diksha Sawant, Mr. Vikas Shetkar, and Mr. Shubham Mhamal for their hard work and support in developing the website. She also thanked Mr. Devesh Naik, System Administrator, for his technical assistance in officially linking the library website to the college’s official website.

The launch marked an important step towards enhancing the accessibility and visibility of library resources and services through a digital platform.
