Travel Information

Venue

This meeting will be at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and the bulk of the meeting will be onsite. However, we will have an evening event in town, at the Bradbury Science Museum (the map is shown here). Instructions for badging and on-site meeting venue wil be sent to attendees.

Get the right stamp on your passport

For those coming from abroad: when your passport is stamped, you will need to make sure it is stamped that you are coming to the US for business, not vacation. LANL can not reimburse travelers on vacation.

Hotels

We are working on room blocks. The Comfort Inn and Suites is very close (~200m) to the venue. We are working on this room block now.

We have set up a room block for the Holiday Inn Express but it is >6km from the venue. The Wingate is right next to the venue.

Flights

You can fly into New Mexico either through Albuquerque Sunport or Santa Fe Airport . The latter is closer (~80km to Los Alamos, ABQ is 160km) but much smaller.

Getting to Los Alamos

The easiest way to get to Los Alamos is to rent a car. As with everything else, you should book your own rental car. If you, for some reason can't or do not want to rent a car, let Chris Fryer (fryer@lanl.gov) know. We will find a way to get you to Los Alamos.

Fuller Lodge

Fuller Lodge was originally used as a Ranch school and became the administrative office during World War II for the Manhattan project. . For you astrophysical transient historians, Stirling Colgate was in the last graduating class of this boys school. There is a historical museum next to the Lodge.

Bathtub Row

Bathtub Row was the set of houses used by the managers of the Manhattan project: J. Robert Oppenheimer, Hans Bethe. The houses have been converted to museums of the Manhattan project. Again, for the history buff - in a picture above the fireplace in one house, there are "5 young riders". Can you pick out Stirling Colgate in the pictures?
