I have been a Norton Subscriber since 2012. During this period, I have used my subscription to cover upto 3 laptops / PC's at various times. Currently it is used in just one PC. I do not use / have not used any other AV during this period.

My brother in the USA sent me a brand-new Lenovo laptop a week ago. It was pre-loaded with a trial version of McAfee AV which expires in a few days. However, I wish to continue with Norton, which has provided me with an excellent trouble-free service from the inception. 

How do I get rid of McAfee effectively ?

Reading various comments on blogs and websites, it would appear to be the case that uninstalling McAfee completely is very complicated and difficult, especially to an 'IT-illiterate' like me.

Can someone please provide me with some advice / guidance on this subject ? 

It was mentioned by someone that despite uninstalling McAfee, there may still be 'small bits' lurking within the system which may hinder the effective operation of Norton.
